Whenever I ask the question “do you understand your fuel variance?”, the most common answer I get is “yes”. Unfortunately, that “yes” usually only means “somewhat” or “kind of”.
Fraud can happen anywhere – online, in big companies, and even in petrol stations. Retail petroleum fraud occurs when fuel is stolen directly from the station dispensing it, generally in the form of undercharging or overcharging customers. It is widespread in some parts of the world, and at times it can be incredibly hard to spot.
Fuelsuite®’s award-winning IoT platform Fuelscan® now supports New Zealand Fuel Dispenser communications protocol, expanding its ability for regional applications to support PEC, Gallagher and Compac fuel dispensers.
An Automated Tank Gauge (ATG) is a device installed at petrol stations to monitor and measure fuel movements. Environmental Monitoring Solutions Pty Ltd (EMS) and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University) have entered into a twelve-month research project that aims to unlock predictive analytics for the benefit of Petroleum Retailers and consumers globally.
